Before each project, you can check the project directory to see if the company has managed similar projects in the past, and which personnel were involved. You can also check during an ongoing project to see if similar projects are anticipated in other parts of the company. You can search for a particular company, a particular type of project or for a project that took place at a certain time. You can even look back at document structures, decision points, checklists and other points of interest.
