”The major benefit we see with Projectplace is order and structure. The overview and transparency of the project saves us time and money. It is tricky to say how much, but I am absolutely convinced that it has been worth the cost. I can only imagine what problems we might have encountered if we had had to implement this gigantic project using just Excel and e-mail.”

Complex re-organisation was a breeze with Projectplace

When international engineering firm Haldex divided its organisation into three separate companies, a project tool was required to make the project, which cost SEK 100 million, transparent and straightforward. The preferred solution was Projectplace, which helped Haldex to complete the work without compromising on either safety or confidentiality.

Per Ericson is Executive Vice President and Head of Group HR at Haldex. At the time of writing this, the majority of Per’s working hours are devoted to the division of Haldex.

Successful projects thanks to transparency

Like most technology companies Haldex works a lot with projects, but this project was unusual because of its scope and complexity. The budget amounted to SEK 100 million, and at its peak the project involved more than 100 people. Per realised that Projectplace could provide the control, clarity and transparency needed to deliver the project on time.

“Projectplace has a good and simple structure that helps us to get the overview we need from a central position to oversee the project. It also provides simple yet distinct tools for use in each subproject, for everything from scheduling to document management.”

Good support and portfolio function particularly valuable

Per is especially pleased with the support the company received from Projectplace, which began with tangible help to get things moving before switching to excellent telephone support.

“Employees from Projectplace visited our headquarters in Stockholm in order to assist both our project secretary and myself as project manager. The support team helped to train project managers around the world over the phone, which meant we could quickly expand the system. A project management system is only as good as you make it,” explains Per.

The option to keep subprojects in folders is a function that provides a good overview and good control when working on large projects, and as Per explains it has proven invaluable at Haldex.

Projectplace provides simple yet distinct tools for use in each subproject, for everything from scheduling to document management.
